Ultimate Frisbee β usually just called βUltimateβ β is a fast, exciting team sport played with a flying disc!
It combines some of the best parts of soccer, football, and basketball, but thereβs one big difference:
Players run, throw, catch, defend, and work together to move the disc down the field. Catch it in the other teamβs end zone andβ¦
Ultimate is also a non-contact sport, so thereβs no tackling. Itβs easy for beginners to learn, but thereβs always something new to practice as you improve.
Best of all, everyone can play!
Pass the disc to your teammates to move it down the field.
You can't run while holding the disc. Once you catch it, stop and use one foot as a pivot while looking for your next pass.
If the disc hits the ground, goes out of bounds, or is caught by the other team, possession changes immediately.
Catch the disc in the opposing team's end zone to score a point!
At the beginning of the game and after each point, one team makes a long throw called a pull to start play.
One of the coolest things about Ultimate is that players learn to play fairly and respect each other.
Ultimate traditionally uses something called Spirit of the Game, which teaches players to:
β Be honest
β Respect opponents
β Know the rules
β Communicate calmly
β Make fair calls
β Have fun!
Players learn that playing the right way matters just as much as winning.
Lots of running, throwing, catching, diving, teamwork, and exciting plays.
Ultimate is welcoming to new players, and boys and girls can play together.
Ultimate helps develop speed, agility, endurance, coordination, and quick reactions.
Players learn when to throw, where to run, how to get open, and how to work together.
Ultimate is a team sport where communication and supporting your teammates are a huge part of the game.
You don't need lots of expensive equipment β just comfortable athletic clothes, sneakers or cleats, a field, and a disc!
No experience? No problem!
Beginners can start with simple throwing and catching games before learning full Ultimate. Younger players can also use:
ποΈ Smaller fields
π₯ Smaller teams
β±οΈ Shorter games

π― Fun mini-games
π Lots of chances to touch the disc!
At Kids Ultimate, the goal is to help players learn, improve, make friends, and LOVE playing Ultimate!
